The future of dialysis

Re-imagining the future of dialysis

In close collaboration with Nipro, we developed and defined a unified design vision with concepts focusing on core interaction points and user experience. The result helped Nipro understand the value of user-centred and convergent design for both innovation-seeking and value-driven markets.

New market demands and user insights (HCPs) helped us map key touchpoints for building product architectures and explore the concepts further. Together with Nipro’s global R&D team, we built upon additional knowledge regarding user needs and field insights, as well as procedure understanding with technical dependencies.

Utilizing these findings, a cohesive design system vision was created, built to give their user a unified and intuitive experience across the full Nipro ecosystem. The final concept variations were brought to life and validated with full-scale Lo-Fi mockups in addition to rendered pictures and in-context VR explorations.

Emphasizing functions

Based on market demands and HCP user insights, zoning principles were utilized to highlight main user touchpoints and declutter passive areas. This resulted in added benefits for both the patient and the dialysis nurse, leading to a machine that is intuitive to use as well as pleasant to be around.

A system built to last.

In collaboration with the Nipro R&D team, a thorough heritage analysis was conducted in parallel to mapping current user insights and market demands. This effort resulted in a final design system vision that is strongly rooted in the brands long history of quality and innovation, while also built to last long into the future.
